An Austrian Art Nouveau glass "Cytisus" silver overlay vase by, Loetz with graduated iridescent peach to intensely iridized blue background with iridized oil spot decoration further decorated with an applied art nouveau sterling silver floral decoration by, Alvin. The vase is unsigned and the silver bears the Alvin hallmark and 999 marks.

Note:
Loetz vases with applied sterling silver decorations where produced at the turn of the century and was predominately limited to export more specifically the American Market. Various silversmiths in The USA such as Meriden or Alvin would apply the silver decoration once the vase was imported from Austria to the silversmith.

This example of a belted rose is extremely rare in regards to the size of the shade. It is the first time we have seen a 20.5 in diameter belted rose. Typically Belted Rose's were made in 16 in. diameters.
