A French Art Nouveau parcel gilt, silvered and patinated bronze sculpture "Femme Debout" (Standing Woman by Maurice Bouval. The sculpture is signed, "M Bouval" and is further impressed with the Joliet Cie Paris Founders Seal. An identical piece was exhibited at the Salon of the Societe Des Artistes Francias in 1904.

Maurice Bouval born in Toulouse, France 1863. He became a pupil of Alexandre Falguière of whom he studied under. Bouval a prolific sculptor of his time created a large number of bronze statues and functional objets de arts including chandeliers, candelabras, inkwells, candlesticks, sconces, salt cellar, covered boxes/urns and table lamps. His main works are "Ophelia," "Femme assise, Jeune femme," "Le Sommeil," "Femme aux pavots," and "Le Secret et la Pensive." He participated and exhibited in the 1890 Exposition Universelle in Paris and was a member of the Société des Artistes Français.
